An Energy Savings Certificate (CAE) is an electronic document that guarantees that, after implementing an energy efficiency measure, a new final energy saving equivalent to 1 kWh has been achieved. Therefore, if a measure results in an annual saving of 500 kWh, 500 CAEs can be obtained.
This instrument allows energy savings to be monetized, recovering part of the cost of investments in energy efficiency (such as lighting changes, thermal insulation improvements, industrial or household equipment upgrades, etc.), as the end user can receive compensation by selling the savings obtained for subsequent certification through the CAE System.
